Henry and Aliene Kitterman House
1935 East Market Street
New Albany, IN 47150
Sheriff Sale

Listing Description:
It is likely this house was built by carpenter George Churchill immediately after he purchased the lot from John Cadwalder in November 1924. Henry and Aliene Kitterman purchased the home in March 1925.

Kitterman originally worked at the Indiana Veneer & Paneling Co., located only a few blocks away on Silver Street at the railroad tracks. The company was referred to as the “grandfather of the modern plywood industry in the country.” He would later retire from Hoosier Panel Co., another New Albany based woodworking concern.

The Kittermans were members of St. Mark’s Evangelical Church, now known as St. Marks United Church of Christ located in downtown New Albany.

Aliene passed away at the very young age of 35 years in March 1941. Henry would remain in the home until shortly before his death in August 1978 at his son’s house in King George, Virginia.

The property’s judgment number is 22D03-1808-MF-001201.  With this number you can visit the Clerk’s Office in the City-County building and enter it into their computers to find the judgment owed on the property. This is public record.
