William was the son of Judge William Padgett of New Albany. He was a printer by trade and was granted a patent in 1902 for a Separable or Sectional Printers Chase.
The Padgetts lived here until about 1912, when they moved to 2126 East Spring Street. Early in William’s career, he was connected with The New Albany Tribune and later as a job printer at Louisville’s Belknap Hardware & Manufacturing Co.
William passed in May 1935 and Louise in November 1946.
