Louisa C. Kelley was residing in this new house by the time the 1911-1912 N
ew Albany City Directory was printed. Louisa was the widow of Francis (Frank) Kelley, a veteran of the Civil War. The couple was married in 1862, soon after the onset of the war. Frank survived the war, but passed in 1904 from blood poisoning resulting from a wound he sustained in battle over forty years earlier. He is buried in the National Register listed, New Albany National Cemetery on Ekin Avenue
The Kelleys had two sons, Charles and William, and were members of the Main Street Methodist Episcopal Church, located on West Main in the west end neighborhood of New Albany.
Louisa expired in January of 1920, and was laid to rest next to her husband in the National Cemetery. Charles remained in the house only a few years after the death of his mother.
